AURA CEO Bill Tolpegin Joins Aerospace Industries Association Board of Governors

Appointment is latest example of how AURA is consistently positioned at the center of functional and regulatory solutions.

AURA Network Systems CEO Bill Tolpegin’s recent appointment to the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) Board of Governors reflects the growing significance of the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sector. Tolpegin’s selection not only highlights his vision and thought leadership but also underscores AURA’s pivotal role in shaping the future of aviation.

Founded in 1919, AIA serves as a powerful advocate for hundreds of high-technology manufacturers and suppliers across every tier of the aerospace and defense industry. With its extensive network and influence, AIA plays a crucial role in shaping frameworks in multiple regulatory arenas to improve the safety of air transportation. It also drives technological advancements and enhances continued global leadership of the country’s aerospace and defense industrial sectors.

For Tolpegin, being appointed to the Board is yet another testament to his leadership, industry expertise, and commitment to advancing the AAM sector. With decades of experience in spectrum-related technologies and strategic management, Tolpegin brings unique insights and perspectives to AIA.   • In addition to her role as vice chair of AIA’s Spectrum Committee, AURA Cofounder and President of AURA Network Ventures Tamara Casey serves on AIA’s Emerging Technologies Committee; she has also been a member of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance Working Group and is active with RTCA, particularly SC-228 (Minimum Performance Standards for Uncrewed Aircraft Systems).

  • AURA Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer Brian Regan also serves on AIA’s Spectrum and Emerging Technology Committees, as well as AUVSI’s Air Advocacy Committee; he’s also active within the Commercial Drone Alliance.

  • AURA Regulatory Affairs Director Jim Williams serves on the RTCA Advisory Board and chairs the RTCA Special Committee working on UAS and AAM standards. He also worked with the FAA UAS Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) Aviation Rulemaking Committee and currently serves on AIA’s Spectrum and Emerging Technologies Committees, along with AUVSI’s Air Advocacy Committee.

  • AURA Director of Standards Virginia Stouffer is actively engaged with various RTCA committees, as well as the SAE AAM Steering Group; she also leads a GAMA Electric Propulsion & Innovation Committee subpanel and two American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Subcommittees on AAM and Electric Propulsion.

  • AURA Vice President of Business Development Lisa Peterson is integrally involved with the Commercial Drone Alliance, as well as the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) AAM and AUVSI Air Advocacy Committees; she is also an advisor to Women and Drones.

  • AURA Business Development Manager George Valcarcel is the founder and Industry Advisor to the Ohio Air Mobility Symposium.
